Shawn Summey
Founder · Tellico Capital PartnersShawn Summey has spent more than 25 years at the intersection of professional sales, real estate, and capital formation. His career has not followed a straight line. It has followed a conviction: that the most important thing you can do in any business relationship is show up with integrity, do what you said you would do, and still be there long after the deal closes.
He began his career in professional sales, developing the foundational skills that would define every role that followed. Over time, that path led deeper into real estate — buying, selling, negotiating, and advising on transactions across residential, commercial, and investment properties. He is a licensed REALTOR® in Tennessee and Georgia. But the negotiating table has always been familiar territory. Across 25 years in sales, finance, payments, and real estate-adjacent industries, deal structure and relationship management were never separate from the job. They were the job.
His capital formation work represents some of the most meaningful work of his career. Shawn has raised more than $50 million in private equity capital, including significant raises for McLemore Resort — a world-class golf and hospitality development on Lookout Mountain in Tennessee — and The Keep, a preferred equity offering connected to the same vision. That work required more than sales ability. It required the kind of patient, trust-first relationship building that cannot be faked and cannot be rushed.
Across more than 500 investor and professional relationships, Shawn has built a reputation for telling the truth before it is comfortable, returning calls before he has all the answers, and treating every investor's capital as though it is not his to spend — because it is not.
Today, Shawn serves as VP of Capital Formation and Investor Relations at Artisan Land Companies and SVP of Syndicated Equity at Ascendant Development, and is a partner in Hound Dog Fund, L.P. He works primarily with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and real estate developers and operators across Tennessee and Georgia, with a focus on relationships that outlast any single transaction.
Tellico Capital Partners was built to carry every lesson that career has taught him — operating with the patience, discretion, and long-term thinking that serious capital and serious relationships deserve.
Shawn is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is married to Sarah. His work is rooted in faith, shaped by a deep belief in legacy, generosity, and the kind of wealth that changes a family’s story for generations.
The Tellico Capital Partners lion mark is derived from the Summey family coat of arms — a heraldic tradition that carries the values of the family line forward across generations. The lion rampant has long symbolized strength, courage, and earned authority. Not aggression. Readiness.
Using the family coat of arms as the firm’s mark is not a vanity. It is a statement of accountability. This firm carries the family name in everything it does, even when the name does not appear. That standard does not change based on the size of the deal or the profile of the client.
If you are building something worth protecting — a portfolio, a family legacy, a real estate position — and you are looking for a partner who will treat it accordingly, we should talk.
